Experiencing the death of a loved one is a very difficult time in one’s life but we turn to our faith to help get us through that time. Our Bereavement Committee coordinates a meal for the family after the funeral. After visiting with the family to find out preferences, we contact volunteers to make it happen.
The Coordinator will call parishioners asking for vegetables, salads, and desserts. Sometimes family or friends donate funds that are used to purchase the entrée or contribute other foods for the meal.
Normally, the family is responsible (monetarily) for the meat, noodles, green beans and paper products and parishioners contribute salads, vegetables, and desserts.
Families are also asked to contribute $300 ($200 for parishioners) to the hall for setup and cleanup expenses.
Parishioners who are available at the time of the funeral are welcome to help prepare the meal and ensure seating arrangements are ready for the family.
